awesome, Rachel. First, validates much of the TED video we watched, huh? Second, really like JT's thinking about the gallon milk jugs to fill the water, he doesn't seem to think of the question as a math word problem. Just for conversation sake, what I think would really be interesting would be to see him go through the process and apply this conversation starter and the experience filling it up with a real math concept (i.e., volume, etc.). That's implied in your setup, I know, I just couldn't help say it. Also, don't want to negate how wonderful it is that you used video (like Dan Meyer says in the TED video about ubiquitous multimedia opportunities) to create an artifact you can then use to make a point. Imagine the possibilities for the classroom. Nice post! Dr B
